Refereed - peer review platform

Refereed is the peer review platform that offers scientific manuscript management from writing to peer review to publishing in one streamlined smooth flow. The authors will be able to write research papers in a collaborative interface specifically trimmed for scholarly articles. They will also be able to choose editors for their field of science through community voting system. When authors submit their paper for peer review, the editor will assign referees and overlook the peer review process.

Referees will make corrections/suggestions to the paper and anonymously interact with the authors during the process. The process of peer review will be somewhat resemblant of issue handling in the code repositories like Github. After all the issues raised by the referees have been handled the editor makes the final corrections and issues a decision to accept or reject the paper. The editor and referees receive payments for their input, which they, in turn, can use to publish their own research.

Once the paper is accepted for publication it becomes freely available online. It is also uploaded into blockchain-backed filesystem to make sure that it remains available and uncensored. The authors retain their copyright for the paper throughout all the process. The traditional refereed journals are not excluded from our flow completely. One option for a journal is to subscribe to use Refereed for their internal peer review process. In this case, the journal chief editor gets necessary rights on the platform to handle the review process. The second option for a journal is to pull relevant research already peer reviewed and published on Refereed and offer authors to republish it in the journal without any additional review for an extra charge. Even when authors choose to submit their research to the journal Refereed will keep preprints on the platform and make them freely available for everyone online.
